Osu shopping district is a huge area in Nagoya comprised of over 1200 shops, restaurants and entertainment arcades. The whole area is covered with a rooftop so shoppers can go around at their leisure even when it’s raining, browsing the huge variety of things for sale.
The Osu shopping district has flourished since the Edo period (1600’s). Osu Kannon, actually the name of the nearby Buddhist temple, by which the market has become what it is today.
Osu Market area is known for its quirky and more atmospheric vibe, selling everything from piercings and retro clothing to food specialities as well as having many collectable figurines and video game shops.
A fascinating, alternative shoppers dream to get lost in, enjoy some unique food and unwind in one of the arcades or bars!
